Dean Grange Preparatory School, a co-educational day and boarding Prep School, was established in 1947 and stands in more than four acres of grounds.
Situated in a rural North Bedfordshire village, Dean Grange Preparatory School is within easy access of the M1, A1 and lies just off the A45 (now the B645) between St Neots and Northampton.
The building, originally the Manor House, is bright and warm and houses the Dormitories, some classrooms, Dining Hall and Assembly Hall.
Dean Grange offers a high standard of preparatory education to all age group Entrance Examinations, including teaching to Scholarship level at 11+ years. The syllabus incorporates all National Curriculum requirements.
French is taught from 5 years of age.
Teaching is carried out in small classes of about 15 children.
The school is also sympathetic towards children with Specific Learning Difficulties and operates a Special Needs Unit for pupils who require extra academic assistance.
Full and Weekly boarding is available in comfortable and caring accommodation. About 20 of the 100 or so pupils are boarders.
The philosophy of the boarding house is to create a 'Home from Home' environment. A variety of enjoyable evening and weekend activities are organised for boarding children balanced with the opportunity for individual, private, free time.
Dean Grange also operates its own, on site, Nursery Unit which offers a structured daily routine of enjoyable learning activities, providing pre-school children with the excellent preparation for the more formal Prep or Infant school system.
Both boys and girls play appropriate sports for the season. There is a comprehensive inter-school sports fixture list. As well as team games children have the opportunity to participate in individual physical pursuits.
Dean Grange has a strong music tradition. Pupils are encouraged to audition for the school choir and have the opportunity to experience a variety of musical instruments, both within the curriculum or as an individual extra curricular activity.
Apart from music Dean Grange offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including horse-riding and ballet.
